About the role

We have a permanent opportunity for a Senior Advisor joining our environmental impact assessment team based in Leederville. This position will play a key role in enabling Water Corporation to plan and deliver infrastructure that meets future water needs while protecting environmental values and supporting climate resilience.

Working within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to environmental impact assessments, approvals strategies and environmental risk management across complex programs of work. The role supports the delivery of outcomes aligned with Water Corporation’s Thrive 2035 Strategy, embedding environmental stewardship, sustainable growth and climate resilience into decision‑making and project delivery to create long‑term value for customers, communities and the environment.

What the role will involve

Provide advice, guidance and support on environmental approvals and compliance with State and Commonwealth project/scheme processes Utilise your understanding of EIA, environmental regulatory requirements to develop approval strategies and secure statutory consents in line with environmental laws
Ensure environmental approvals conditions and compliance obligations are communicated during the asset handover process
Provide advice and review of technical reports, strategic direction, policy and position statements including writing, reviewing and updating reports and compliance
Maintain strong working relationships with critical external parties, including regulators, major clients, and industry organisations such as DCCEEW, DWER/ EPA Services, DBCA, advocacy and environmental groups
Support Principal/Team Leaders on strategic planning, policy development, and position papers, including drafting, evaluating, and refining protocols, while contributing to strategic insights on environmental matters and regulatory compliance
Support the team in delivering technical environmental guidance and operational support
About you

Degree level qualification in environmental science or a relevant field, and substantial experience in environmental impact assessment
Demonstrated sound understanding of EIA in relation to planning, environmental risk assessment, approvals processes, operational management and, overall, compliance areas
Demonstrated sound understanding in delivering positive environmental outcomes in accordance with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation
Experience with review of scientific studies and technical documents, GIS analysis, summarising information, and providing well-reasoned recommendations
Ability to collaborate, negotiate and influence both senior internal and external key stakeholders
Understanding of relevant issues facing the water and wastewater industry in Australia will be desirable
