Applications are invited for the position of full-time ongoing Electorate Officer A, for the office of the Hon Josh Wilson MP, based in Fremantle, Western Australia.
The successful applicant will be values-driven person who wants to be involved in the work of an office that seeks to make a difference in the Fremantle electorate and in the national parliament. This role would suit someone who is interested in community engagement and is motivated by the importance of public service and shared wellbeing.
The successful applicant’s duties will include:
Responding to constituent needs and enquiries
Helping to organise community events and meetings
Supporting office communications (traditional, digital and social media)
Word processing, spreadsheets, correspondence and record-keeping
Other duties as directed
Applicants should possess the following skills, experience, and personal qualities:
A passion for community engagement and advocacy
A natural interest in public service, social inclusion, fairness, and justice
Strong organisational ability and attention to detail
High-level oral and written communication skills
An understanding of Australian government, parliament, and politics is desirable
An aptitude for working with people, being team-oriented, adaptable, and emotionally intelligent
Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1+84 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23, noting a new Enterprise Agreement has been proposed and is expected to take effect shortly. Current conditions include:
A commencing salary between $6+,046 and $73,0+8 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills
An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable
A probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.
The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Policy History Check.
