About the role
This is a Fixed term, full-time position for 36 months

The Evaluation and Performance Officer role supports the delivery of high-quality evaluation, performance monitoring and evidence activities to inform decision-making, improve program effectiveness and strengthen outcomes for Victorians. Working as part of a small evaluation and performance team, the role contributes to the design, coordination and delivery of evaluation projects across policy, program and service delivery areas.
Key tasks include delivering mixed methods evaluation through qualitative and quantitative analysis, supporting development of evaluation frameworks and performance measures, and contributing to the preparation of clear, evidence-based reports, briefs and presentations for internal stakeholders. The officer will work closely with policy, program and operational teams to support consistent approaches to monitoring, evaluation and learning, and to promote the practical use of evidence in planning and improvement.
The Evaluation and Performance Officer plays an important role in embedding evaluation capability, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring evidence is accessible, credible and fit-for-purpose. The role requires strong written and analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to a non-technical audience, within a fast-paced government environment.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
Experience supporting or delivering monitoring and evaluation programs, policies or initiatives, including evaluation planning; collection and synthesis of quantitative and qualitative data; and identification of key insights and data limitations to inform evidence-based decision-making.
Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support data collection and evidence use.
Capacity to manage multiple evaluation programs or projects, balance competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to prepare clear, accurate and timely reports, briefs and summaries that translate complex evidence into practical, fit-for-purpose advice for non-technical audiences.
Well-developed critical and creative thinking skills, with the ability to draw on diverse information sources and contribute to continuous improvement in monitoring, evaluation and performance practices.

Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in evaluation, social or behavioural sciences, economics, public policy/administration or related field is desirable.
