Company Overview

The Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre is a community-funded charity established in 2013, dedicated to providing free mental health services to individuals in Renfrew County. With a commitment to addressing gaps in the mental health system, the Centre collaborates with various organizations to develop proactive programs that deliver unique and preventative support.

Position Summary: The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, financial health, and day-to-day operations of the organization. The ED works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the organization’s mission and objectives are effectively implemented. The ED provides leadership, vision, and management to ensure long-term sustainability, growth, and impact. This position is an in office position and the expectation is that the incumbent be on site everyday.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Vision:
Lead the development and implementation of the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
Ensure that the organization’s mission, vision, and values are effectively communicated and upheld.
Engage with the Board of Directors to establish organizational priorities, goals, and metrics for success.
Monitor external trends and identify opportunities for growth and partnerships.
Operational Oversight:
Oversee daily operations to ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.
Manage the senior leadership team and staff to ensure smooth functioning of all departments.
Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures for efficient operations.
Ensure that programs and services are delivered effectively and in a manner that meets the needs of stakeholders.
Financial Management:
Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability.
Oversee the organization’s financial operations, including revenue generation, expenses, and financial reporting.
Work with the Board to establish sound financial policies and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Lead fundraising efforts, including donor relations, grant applications, and sponsorships.
Fundraising & Resource Development:
Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes donor cultivation, grant writing, and special events.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key donors, foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources.
Collaborate with the development team to identify and pursue new funding opportunities.
Board Relations & Governance:
Work closely with the Board of Directors to provide updates on the organization’s progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Assist the Board in the development of policies, long-term strategies, and governance best practices.
Support Board recruitment and development efforts, ensuring the right mix of skills, diversity, and experience.
Prepare and present reports for Board meetings.
External Relations & Advocacy:
Represent the organization to external stakeholders, including government agencies, partners, donors, and the community.
Advocate for the organization’s mission and programs in public and private forums.
Build relationships with other not-for-profits, advocacy groups, and community leaders to expand the organization’s reach and impact.
Manage public relations, media engagement, and branding strategies to enhance the organization’s profile.
Staff & Volunteer Management:
Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, fostering a positive organizational culture and a commitment to excellence.
Ensure staff are well-supported through professional development, training, and performance management.
Promote collaboration, teamwork, and open communication within the organization.
Oversee volunteer programs and ensure effective recruitment, training, and retention strategies.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with all municipal, provincial and federal regulations, including CRA registered charitable status and reporting requirements.
Implement and monitor risk management strategies to safeguard the organization’s assets and reputation.
Ensure proper insurance coverage and the establishment of contingency plans.
Qualifications:

Education: A bachelor’s degree in social work, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of senior-level leadership experience in a nonprofit organization. Prior experience as an Executive Director or in an equivalent leadership role is preferred.
Skills:
Proven ability to lead and manage staff, volunteers, and Board members effectively.
Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, financial management, and fundraising.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the organization in various settings.
Strategic thinker with a passion for the organization's mission and an understanding of the nonprofit sector.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
A successful criminal reference check and vulnerable person check is required for this position.

A vehicle and drivers licence are required.

Working Conditions:

Full-time
Some evening and weekend work required for events or board meetings.
Occasional travel may be required for fundraising, conferences, or organizational events.
