Whitehorse Glacier Bears Swim Club (WGB) is seeking a community-minded Executive Director (Term) to lead our organization through a period of growth and transition.
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on executive experience in a growing non-profit sport organization. Working directly with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team, you’ll contribute across strategy, operations, finance, governance, and community engagement while helping shape the future of swimming in the Yukon.

More About the Role
Part-time (20 hours per week) | 1-Year Term (Start ASAP – August 2027)
$56,000 per annum | Whitehorse, Yukon
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer of WGB, responsible for strategic leadership, organizational management, and long-term sustainability of the club.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will lead a small but high-impact organization, ensuring alignment across programming, financial management, and operations, while supporting a strong athlete and member experience.
Working closely with the Director, Swimming & Engagement and the Senior Finance & Administration Lead, you will build an integrated, high-performing organization that balances performance sport with community connection.
You will:
Lead the development and execution of WGB’s strategic plan
Provide leadership and oversight across all organizational functions
Support and guide a collaborative senior leadership team
Oversee financial management, budgeting, and resource development
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and partners
About You
You are a thoughtful, driven leader who brings strong judgment, curiosity, and the ability to connect strategy with action.
You:
Are currently based in Whitehorse OR prepared to relocate to Whitehorse in a timely manner
Have experience in leadership or management (non-profit, sport, or related sector preferred)
Understand board governance, strategy, and organizational leadership
Bring financial awareness and experience with budgeting or resource management
Communicate effectively and build strong relationships across diverse groups
Are comfortable navigating complexity and making sound decisions
Value accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Are motivated by impact, community, and organizational growth
Can provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector clearance prior to hire
