About Community Roots Resource Center
CRRC is a family resource centre in Northeast Winnipeg, serving newcomer, Indigenous and other individuals in the surrounding area. Through programs focused on food security, health, and community connection - including children and adult programming, a community garden, kitchen, and emergency food pantry - CRRC supports the physical, emotional, and social well-being of those in our community.
About the Role
As Executive Director, you are responsible for the overall leadership of CRRC, ensuring strong programs, a connected community, and sustainable operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a small and growing organization, where you’ll balance strategic leadership with regular, direct involvement in programs, people, and day-to-day operations. This is a 0.75FTE (approximately 4 days/week) role, offering flexibility within a community-focused environment.
What You'll Do
Community Leadership & Engagement
Build strong, trusted relationships with community members, families, and partners
Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where people feel supported and connected
Act as an advocate for the community, working with schools, agencies, and service providers
Programs & Services
Identify emerging community needs and shape programs and events in response
Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs and community initiatives. This includes staying closely connected to program delivery and being directly involved in supporting programs alongside staff and volunteers
Team Leadership
Lead, support, and mentor part-time staff, facilitators, and volunteers
Foster a positive, collaborative team environment
Oversee recruitment, training, and performance development
Funding, Partnerships & Advocacy
Build and maintain relationships with funders, donors, and community partners
Lead or support grant applications and funding proposals
Represent CRRC in the community, increasing awareness and support for our work
Financial & Operational Management
Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Treasurer and Board
Oversee financial tracking, program budgets, and reporting
Ensure effective day-to-day operations, systems, and processes
Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and policies
Board & Governance
Work closely with the Board of Directors to support governance and strategic planning
Provide regular updates on programs, finances, and community needs
Support the Board in advancing CRRC’s long-term vision
What You Bring
Experience in nonprofit, community-based, or social services leadership (minimum 5+years or equivalent experience)
Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
Comfort working in a hands-on environment, balancing strategy with day-to-day involvement
Experience with budgeting, funding, and grant processes
A collaborative, adaptable approach and sound judgment
A genuine commitment to supporting the community and helping CRRC meet the evolving needs of those we serve

Salary: $60,000 (full-time equivalent), pro-rated to approximately $45,000 at 0.75 FTE, plus benefits
