Your role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a new team and support DCJ in building a dedicated workforce for supervising family time.

As a Family Time Team Leader, you'll manage and support a team of Family Time Workers to deliver high-quality supervised family time and transport services for children and young people in out-of-home care.

You'll oversee logistics, provide coaching and professional development, ensure the quality of service delivery, and handle complex issues. Your role includes supervising some family time visits, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. You will oversee workload allocation, manage logistics for visits and transport, and collaborate with casework staff to align family time with case plan goals.
Support and Supervision: Offer ongoing debriefing, coaching, and guidance to your team. Address and resolve issues and escalate serious concerns to senior child protection staff when necessary. You will also supervise some family time visits, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people during these visits.
Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality of family time summary reports completed by your team, providing coaching and instruction to enhance report quality. Implement and monitor administrative procedures and systems related to family time, ensuring adherence to DCJ policies and processes.
Professional Development: Manage and support the professional development of your team members. Reinforce learnings from formal training, and organize additional training as needed to bolster team knowledge and performance.
Administrative Duties: Accurately approve Family Time Worker payment claims and other related payments. Participate in or lead family time-related projects within the district and ensure the effective use of relevant technology and adherence to procedures.
Problem-Solving: Navigate complex and challenging situations that arise during family time arrangements, supporting staff to maintain morale and respond appropriately. Manage escalations and provide guidance on resolving more complex issues.
