Job Description
We’re not just building a business—we’re building a way of working that values integrity, collaboration, and evidence over ego.
We’re a mission-driven MedTech company using life-changing diagnostics to improve lives. As we scale, we’re looking for a Finance Manager or Head of Finance who’s not just great with numbers, but thrives on clarity, purpose, and helping teams make smart decisions, and is ready to grow into a key leadership presence. If you want your work to mean something, and you're humble, sharp, and ready to grow, this might be for you.
We’re grounded in kindness, purpose, and excellence. We support one another, take pride in what we do, and believe you can do serious work without taking yourself too seriously.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll take full ownership of our finance operations across the group, supporting UK and international activities with confidence, curiosity, and high standards. We’re looking for someone who can represent the company with clarity, precision, and trust, especially in important conversations where the numbers matter. This is a hands-on role, and the opportunity to grow into a more senior title will come through demonstrated ownership and reliability.
UK responsibilities:
Overseeing payroll, pensions, P11Ds, and HMRC submissions
Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts: P&L, cash flow, balance sheet
Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
Managing invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, and payment runs
Handling bookkeeping not covered by the bookkeeper, plus month-end and year-end entries
Coordinating and preparing for external audits
Supporting VAT and Corporation Tax submissions
Managing R&D tax credit claims and related audit
Updating cap table, EMI register, and share scheme processes (including valuations and annual submissions)
Assisting with grant claim preparation and audit
Preparing statutory accounts and working with external accountants on CT600 returns
Assisting with group consolidated management accounts
Ensuring accurate inventory tracking and reconciliation for reporting and audit purposes
Support for subsidiaries (with local accountant input):
Managing internal processes related to invoicing, bookkeeping and payments
Assisting with year-end account preparation and compliance documentation
Who You Are
A qualified or part-qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong hands-on experience and the confidence to own key financial processes end-to-end, and strong working knowledge of Xero and Excel
Hands-on experience with financial operations, reporting, audits, and statutory accounts
Familiar with UK regulatory and compliance obligations
Strong analytical skills and comfortable building financial models
A self-starter who enjoys solving problems but works collaboratively
Thoughtful, reliable, curious—and a genuinely kind human
Bonus points for startup/scale-up experience, and comfort with equity management tools
This role is ideal for someone who may not yet hold a senior title but has the potential to grow into one, or someone who’s already experienced but prefers to lead through substance and credibility, not hierarchy. If you're technically strong, practically minded, and committed to clarity and integrity, you’ll thrive here.
How We Work
This is primarily an in-office role, though we’re flexible with hours and don’t believe in rigid * to 5s. What matters most is being present, because great work happens through real conversations, not just screen time. We’re a small, fast-moving team where everyone works with everyone. That’s how we build trust, move fast, and enjoy the journey.
We’re close-knit, open-minded, and incredibly welcoming. We believe every individual brings value beyond their title, and the best ideas come from listening, not volume. If you’re evidence-driven, humble, and up for pitching in across the team when needed, you’ll fit right in.
This isn’t the right role for someone who’s set in their ways or looking to delegate everything. We’re looking for someone who will take real ownership of the finance function and help us scale it with care, accuracy, and a strong sense of responsibility to the mission and the people behind it.
