The Opportunity
Financial Accountant will work as part of ApplyBoard India Finance team and work primarily for the Global Business Strategy team. He/she will be responsible to support the Business Strategy with monitoring & improving financial operations, product line reporting, and compliance efforts. The position will be based in our Gurgaon India office. He/she will report to the Director of Finance Asia Pacific with dotted line reporting to the Global Business Strategy team.
What you'll be doing everyday:
• Manage inventory & COGS accounting, including reconciliation of inventory accounts
• Manage month, quarter and year-end close processes
• Prepare financial statements
• Support preparation of yearly budgets and quarterly reviews
• Work with product and merchandising teams to evaluate attractiveness of new products
• Manage and coordinate with core accounting teams to manage audits
• Establish internal controls over sourcing & payment processes
• Initiate and oversee special projects aligned with business intelligence and business growth
• Handle tax payments to any authorities along with rest of Finance team, as needed
• Understand key regulations and compliance issues in new markets
What you bring to the table:
• MBA or Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting or finance preferred) from a reputed college with 4-5 years of experience
• 4+ years of relevant financial or accounting experience
• Entrepreneurial experience: you’ve either built a company of your own or worked as an early employee of a startup
• Fluency with G Suite, Google Sheets
• Proficient in Google Sheets, including pivot tables. Ability to build complex reports from multi-data sources and analyze large volumes of data
• Fluency / comfort with technology and learning about new tools
• Experience on NetSuite or other ERP systems for service company preferred
• Ability to work independently, assume responsibility and deliver within deadlines
• Strong abstract thinking & problem-solving skills; it is critical that you can break down problems and solve them without supervision
• Fluency in written and spoken English required, other languages are a plus but not required
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
