Description
The Financial Accountant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of Contour’s financial reporting and compliance. By producing high-quality financial reports, maintaining rigorous internal controls, and supporting key budgeting and forecasting activities, the Financial Accountant contributes to strategic decision-making and operational efficiency across the business.
As a full-time team member within the Finance function, this newly created role ensures our financial processes are compliant, scalable, and aligned with Contour’s mission to reshape education, one student at a time.

We run weekly small-group tutoring sessions at our in-person campuses, presented by young and experienced tutors that teach in a simple, intuitive and engaging way. What you'll do
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory obligations.
Support the timely preparation of statutory accounts, BAS, FBT, and income tax returns.
Contribute to financial modelling, cash flow forecasting, and budget variance analysis.
Accounts & Reconciliation
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including processing journal entries and account reconciliations.
Conduct regular bank, intercompany, and AP/AR reconciliations.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial records and supporting documentation.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
Monitor and report on actuals vs budget, highlighting key variances.
Support scenario planning through data-driven financial modelling.
Process Improvement & Systems
Champion process improvement and automation in day-to-day accounting functions.
Contribute to accounting system optimisation and internal workflow enhancements.
Support efficient and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
Audit & Internal Controls
Prepare audit documentation and liaise with external auditors as required.
Maintain and enhance internal control frameworks to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.

Academic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or CA qualified (or actively working towards).
Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial accounting, preferably in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Strong technical expertise in Australian Accounting Standards.
Clear communicator with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
