Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date financial records, preparing balance sheets, and managing income and expenditure reports .
This role is critical to the smooth operation of the finance department and requires a high level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities :
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date company financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other financial documents and reports.
• Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
• Monitor and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Manage payroll and ensure timely and accurate processing of employee payments.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts as required.
• Provide support during financial audits and prepare necessary documentation.
• Collaborate with other departments to gather and analyze financial information.
• Ensure compliance with UK financial regulations and tax laws.
• Implement and maintain effective financial controls and procedures.
• Identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
Qualifications :
• Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role within a UK company , preferably within the recruitment or education sector.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero ) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Strong work ethic and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all financial matters.
Preferred Qualifications :
• Professional certification in bookkeeping or accounting (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA ).
• Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance
