Financial Controller – Automotive Parts Distribution
West Yorkshire | £50,000 – £55,000 + Benefits | 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
Are you a commercially minded finance professional looking to play a key role in the next chapter of a growing, evolving business?
We’re working with a market-leading automotive parts distributor, now part of a global group, and at a pivotal point in its development. Following a recent acquisition, the business is refocusing on growing through its distributor channel, expanding product lines, and strengthening its operational infrastructure.
They’re now looking for a Financial Controller to lead the finance function and partner with the Managing Director to help shape the financial and commercial direction of the business.
The Opportunity
This isn’t just about producing reports. You’ll be the go-to person for all things finance – leading a small team, owning the numbers, and playing a key part in decision-making at board level.
As Financial Controller, you will:
Lead the finance department, ensuring timely and accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts, and reporting packs for both local and group requirements
Provide clear commentary, insight, and challenge on financial performance and KPIs to support strategic decisions
Manage all aspects of cash flow, treasury, VAT, and corporate taxation
Oversee annual audit processes and liaise with external advisors as needed
Develop budgeting and forecasting models that drive accountability across the business
Act as a key commercial sounding board to the MD and group leadership
Support the integration of systems, controls, and reporting standards post-acquisition
Help embed a financial mindset across the organisation, raising the visibility and influence of finance beyond the back office

About You
ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with experience as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager
Strong commercial acumen – you enjoy being part of wider business conversations, not just reporting on them
Experienced in SME environments, ideally in distribution, logistics, or automotive aftermarket
Hands-on and confident in leading a small finance team
Comfortable reporting into a Managing Director and acting as their financial sounding board
Able to balance the need for financial rigour with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
