Manitoba Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is seeking a highly motivated individual interested in filling the role of Fire Ranger Radio Operator based out of Lac du Bonnet.

Duties:
Under the direction of the Fire Operations Manager, Regional Duty Officer, or designate, the incumbent is responsible for variety of duties including:

Operating and speaking on two-way radio equipment to provide an effective communications system for the Eastern Region Fire Operations Centre, including talking to aircraft and logging daily flight information
Provide support for the Fire Operations Manager by updating situation boards with weather information, district alert status and compiling regional wildfire information
Communicate with various internal and external stakeholders via radio, telephone, facsimile and computer
Assist the Regional Fire Ranger with duties as assigned in the Regional Fire Equipment warehouse
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Essential:

Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and Outlook) or similar software applications.
Experience working effectively in high stress situations.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Strong written communication skills.
Experience with prioritizing and organizing changing workloads and demands.
Desired:
Experience in the use and operation of a two-way radio system.
Experience with inventory control in a warehouse setting.
Conditions of Employment:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Will be required to possess and maintain current first aid and CPR certification by a date acceptable to the employer.
Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent.
Must be 18 years of age or older prior to start date.
Must be willing and able to work weekends, overtime, and be deployed provincially, inter-provincially, or internationally as/when required.
