About You and this Role:
As a Fixed Asset Controllers Coordinator, your role is required to gain proficiency through on-the-job training and experience. You are responsible providing consistent superior accounting support for Dow's fixed asset accounting. You need either deep skills in this discipline or knowledge of a range of processes, procedures, and systems. You also need a broad understanding of the job and know how to apply knowledge and skills to complete assigned tasks. You should understand how your team works with others to accomplish objectives and be able to exchange detailed, complicated information with other team members.
You are accountable to evaluate analytical or scientific problems in unusual situations and select solutions based on established procedures. You will serve as an informal resource on operational, administrative, data organization, or coordination tasks for less experienced team members with no direct supervisory responsibilities. Your performance will impact the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of your own work and your team’s work. You should be able to modify work practices and processes to achieve results and/or improve efficiency.
Responsibilities:
• Support Fixed asset accounting operations.
• Review Capital Authorization requests and ensure correct classification of Capital vs Expense as per accounting policy.
• Support Fixed Asset Accountant for month close activities.
• Follow-up with Project Manager and ensure timely resolution of queries.
• Check Capitalized Interest applicability for capital projects.
• Perform project maintenance / update for all capital & expense project.
• Monitor functional mailbox and allocate received requests to team members
• Perform above set of operational processes under a moderate degree of supervision. Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise. Works within standard operating procedures
• Takes a broad perspective to problems and spots new, less obvious solutions. Identifies key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Commerce
• 2+ years of experience in GL accounting
• Strong SAP experience
• Relevant fixed asset accounting experience preferred
Preferred Skills:
• Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.
• High aptitude for accounting
• Working experience of SAP system
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Good communication skills
• Analytical skills
• Fluent in English (written and verbal)
