Job Description
Responsibilities: Conduct in-depth financial investigations into allegations of fraud, embezzlement, and financial misconduct. Analyze financial records, statements, and transactions to identify discrepancies and patterns indicative of fraudulent activity. Gather and preserve evidence in a manner that is admissible in legal proceedings. Prepare comprehensive forensic accounting reports, detailing findings, methodologies, and conclusions. Quantify financial damages and losses resulting from fraudulent activities. Provide expert witness testimony in court proceedings, depositions, and arbitrations. Assist legal counsel in case strategy development and discovery processes. Develop and implement internal controls and fraud prevention programs for clients. Conduct due diligence investigations for mergers, acquisitions, and potential investments. Utilize specialized forensic accounting software and data analytics tools. Collaborate with external auditors, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory bodies. Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards throughout all investigations. Stay current with evolving fraud schemes, accounting standards, and legal precedents. Conduct interviews with relevant parties to gather information and clarify financial data. Develop and deliver training on fraud awareness and prevention to client staff. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), or equivalent are highly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or financial investigation, with a significant portion dedicated to forensic accounting. Proven experience in fraud detection, investigation, and litigation support. Strong understanding of accounting principles, auditing standards, and legal frameworks related to financial crimes. Proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling tools (e.g., Excel, IDEA, CaseWare). Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional report writing and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment. High degree of integrity, professionalism, and discretion. Experience in various industries is an asset. Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
