The Assistant Manager plays a vital role in supporting the Store Manager across all aspects of store operations. With a commitment to GameStop's unique buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Assistant Manager fosters a positive sales culture and ensures outstanding guest service through professionalism and a shared passion for gaming. You will be instrumental in creating an inviting shopping environment, enhancing sales through product knowledge, and encouraging guest loyalty.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Deliver top-notch guest service: warmly greet guests, respond to inquiries promptly and courteously, assist in fulfilling gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend products, and thank every guest.
• Maintain the shopping environment, ensuring it is visually appealing, operationally efficient, and fosters strong guest relationships that lead to increased sales.
• Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, ensuring a pleasant transaction experience.
• Handle guest queries in person and over the phone with professionalism, escalating issues to the Store Manager when necessary.
• Promote GameStop's guest benefits, including the reservations program, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
• Assist the Store Manager in setting service expectations and training associates in their job responsibilities.
• Observe and give feedback on associate performance, addressing any issues as directed by the Store Manager.
• Facilitate onboarding and training for new associates, ensuring they understand company policies and practices.
• Schedule staff while adhering to guidelines, ensuring optimal guest service is provided at all times.
• Approve payroll and manage time edits to ensure all associates are compensated accurately.
• Keep the store clean, organized, and well-merchandised according to company standards.
• Oversee fulfillment of Omni-Channel orders and ensure timely shipping.
• Implement inventory control measures and practices to protect company assets, including loss prevention.
• Support the team in achieving sales and operational goals while completing necessary administrative tasks.
• Conduct inventory counts and stock shelves to ensure a represented and organized store layout.
• Accurately reconcile daily transactions and manage cash within the store.
• Verify shipment accuracies and maintain open communication regarding discrepancies.
• Address safety concerns and maintain a safe environment for guests and associates.
• Maintain organized store records and manuals to reflect up-to-date information.
• Supervise and delegate tasks as needed in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Adhere to GameStop policies, procedures, and guidelines consistently.
• Follow all opening and closing procedures diligently.
Qualifications
• Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in business or a related field is preferred.
• 6 months of retail management experience is preferred.
• 2 years of retail sales or guest service experience is strongly preferred.
• A strong knowledge of video games is a plus.

• Understand military ranks and insignia if applying for stores on military bases.
