Accountant - GL 2
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced General Accountant for our client who likes variety and challenge to join our Finance Team.
The General Accountant is a key member of the Accounting Department and drives many central close financial close responsibilities of the company. The role is responsible for progressively evolving, leading and executing close activities to ensure timely, complete, and accurate financial reporting and optimal internal controls, in coordination with other areas of Accounting, and in partnership with other departments. This person is responsible for exercising independent judgment and decision-making, while keeping accurate and timely financial records, compiling financial and analytical reports, and assisting with projects that improve workflow and support growth. This is an exempt position located in Kent, WA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE
· Accurately track Fixed Assets; Reconcile with ERP GL for all Fixed Asset accounts. Record all capital investments and related depreciation.
· Perform physical audits of property (assets) and submit all property tax filings in each impacted county.
· Provide asset listings and physical location to insurance contacts for appropriate coverage.
· Track and reconcile Prepaid and other GL accounts.
· Validate daily credit card batches using source information to ERP system.
· Reconcile bank accounts monthly, generally within 1-3 days of month end.
· Prepare and update a schedule of all lease and rent payments, through future commitment periods for cash flow, disclosure, and budgeting purposes. Verify common charges, leasehold deposits and code invoices for AP.
· Determine appropriate cut-off at period end (GAAP treatment) for Revenue Recognition and generate adjusting entries.
· Appropriately classify expenses and balance sheet items to the proper account(s) in the GL.
· Register with tax jurisdictions as needed for the collection and remittance of sales/use. Determine nexus by developing expertise in regulations, using accumulators and tax codes. Report and remit sales/use tax to the state and local jurisdictions as per the local deadline.
· Collect, report, and analyze key inventory and costing [raw materials and overhead] information; accurately perform journal entries and key reconciliations for the inventory accounts.
· GL Reconciliation - perform monthly, quarterly, and annual GL reconciliations as assigned using support from a variety of internal and external sources.
· Completes assigned standard journal entries by established deadlines (generally within 5 business days of the activity).
· Represent the finance team on cross-functional working groups with specific goals objectives.
· Document or update operating procedures relative to assigned area; document and retain sufficient and required support for financial transactions.
· Confirm and abide by all internal procedures, policies and regulatory guidance.
· Perform GL analysis on an as-needed basis, including determining GAAP treatment vs. tax treatment of expense items and balance sheet accounts.
· Collect, report, and analyze key labor costing information, including department level classification of employees and wage and fully loaded per capita costs to determine product cost allocation.
· Maintain cost allocation reports and assist with month-end allocations and Assistance Fees
· Prepare and process Receiving documents and assist AP team in closing open Purchase Orders. This involves strong attention to detail and burdening internation costs such as Customs, Freight, Tariff, and Labor charges.
· Support the CFO in collaboration with other Accounting staff in the development of the annual budget and/or quarterly forecast cycles, as needed.
· Participate in ad hoc projects in collaboration with other Accounting staff, or individually, as needed.
DESIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or closely related field required
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional level Accounting experience required, preferably in a manufacturing organization
• Experience with fixed asset accounting
• Solid knowledge and understanding of internal controls
• Two or more years' experience with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 ERP system (SAP Business One, NetSuite, Dynamics, etc. or similar) required
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills
• Strong technical aptitude for third party websites and cloud-based software
• Sound data analysis skills
• Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of process improvements
• Ability to work cordially with people of different backgrounds both across and up and down the organization
• Strong inter-personal and communication skills
• Ability to occasionally work beyond normal business hours and weekends as needed
