- The General Manager of Direct Tax is a pivotal leadership position within the Shared Services sector, responsible for the comprehensive oversight and management of all direct tax functions. This role demands a seasoned expert with 15-20 years of direct tax experience, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a strategic vision. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in shaping and executing tax strategies that ensure regulatory compliance while maximizing tax efficiencies across the organization.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping, developing, and executing the organization's direct tax strategies, ensuring full compliance with relevant tax regulations, and optimizing tax positions to enhance overall efficiency and financial performance.
- They will work closely with senior leadership to identify tax planning opportunities, manage tax risks, and implement best practices that align with the company's broader financial objectives. He will also provide leadership to the tax team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the tax function, and ensuring seamless coordination with other business units and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- 15-20 years of extensive experience in direct tax management, ideally within the Shared Services industry.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing tax functions, demonstrating strategic and operational excellence.
- Expertise in developing and implementing tax strategies that effectively minimize tax liabilities and optimize overall tax efficiency.
- Lead and oversee all direct tax-related activities across the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Strategically develop and execute tax plans that balance regulatory compliance with the pursuit of tax efficiency.
- Provide expert guidance on complex tax issues and transactions, ensuring sound decision-making and risk mitigation.
- Manage comprehensive tax planning processes, including the preparation, review, and filing of tax returns.
- Conduct thorough reviews of tax calculations, provisions, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of tax laws and regulations, ensuring the organization remains fully compliant with evolving tax policies.
- Represent the organization during tax audits and assessments, resolving any disputes or issues that may arise.
