Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate for the Government Environmental Counsel position will be responsible for providing expert advice on environmental laws and regulations to our staff. You will assist with the environmental review process for Department actions, ensuring that they meet City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) and State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) requirements.
You will work closely with the Law Department on compliance issues and environmental litigation challenges to Department actions. Additionally, you will draft detailed responses to inquiries and submit information requested by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
Your expertise will also be utilized in drafting, reviewing, and advising on procurements initiated by the Department, including construction contracts, emergency contracts, requirements contracts, and contracts for environmental services.
