Job description, work day and responsibilities
Lead and manage vessel accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with global and local accounting standards (IND AS, IFRS, GAAP).
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting related to vessel operations, including operating expenses, dry-docking costs, and capital expenditures.
• Develop and maintain cost control mechanisms to monitor vessel profitability and ensure cost optimization.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial consolidation of multiple vessel-owning entities within the organization.
• Collaborate with technical and commercial teams to assess financial implications of vessel chartering, fuel costs, and maintenance expenses.
• Manage financial risk related to vessel financing, lease agreements, and foreign exchange exposure.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including GST, TDS, and other statutory obligations applicable to the maritime industry.
• Drive automation and system improvements for vessel accounting, integrating with ERP (SAP or equivalent) for efficient data management.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions for audits, tax filings, and financing arrangements.
• Develop and mentor a team of vessel finance professionals, ensuring continuous learning and capability enhancement.
