Contract: Permanent, Part Time (0.9 FTE Rostered and Rotating)

About the Role
The Health care Assistants in APU are key in meeting the service's overall aim. The successful candidate will work under the direction and delegation of the nursing team, to provide assistance to patients, meal delivery, cleaning and making discharge beds. This very busy role also includes some housekeeping tasks of ordering and putting away the stores, ensuring the unit is tidy and equipment tidy and plugged in, computer skills are a must. You will work within a small team of registered nurses, health care assistants and administrative support personal. You will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager. Underlying all interactions and day to day tasks the APU staff illustrate the values of; Always Caring, Can Do, In Partnership and Being Our Best. Upholding these values is key to our high functioning, positive APU team.
This position is rostered and rotating (AMs & PMs, weekdays, weekends, public holidays).
About the Team/Service Location
APU (Assessment & Planning Unit) is a 16 bedded unit aimed at assessing, treating and supportively discharging medical, surgical and gynaecological patients back home within a 24-36 hour timeframe. The unit works hard to enable efficient and effective patient flow through the system. This means taking direct admissions from GP practices and also ED with the aim of providing a thorough assessment and MDT review to enable a safe and timely discharge home.
About you
High standard of communication
Have or working towards New Zealand Certificate in health wellbeing, Level 3
Some understanding of the health care system would be an advantage
Computer skills are required in this role
Positive 'Can do' attitude
Must have a current working visa
