The Opportunity

The HCC Manager ANZ is a core member of the ANZ cross-sector Health Care Compliance (HCC) team, reporting to the HCCO. You will partner closely with the HCCO and the cross-sector HCC team on the implementation and continuous improvement of the HCC Program in the Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology, Innovative Medicines and Vision businesses in ANZ.

You play a crucial role in helping Johnson & Johnson (J&J) to achieve high performance with high integrity:

Individual contributor who is a developing subject matter expert, to achieve excellence in HCC Program implementation and advise to business partners – to ensure business practices and activities comply with J&J guidelines, local laws, regulations and industry code, as well as anti-corruption laws, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Under the HCCO’s guidance, working closely with the executive leadership, BU management and functional teams and serving as a strategic business partner for management; the HCC Manager plays a crucial role to assure that the J&J’s culture of integrity and compliance is a natural element in day-to-day business.

Works independently with minimal supervision in a matrixed, cross-sector environment. Adheres to industry standards for compliance and identifies areas for process improvement in compliance proceedings.

Depth of commercial acumen and sound knowledge of the health care environment, strong communication, change management, organizational and analytical skills; ability to take complex business situations and develop solutions to ensure compliant growth is achieved.

Proven track record in delivering results, self-starter and ability to manage complexity and ambiguity is a must.

Working closely with the HCCO and the cross-sector HCC team, the HCC Manager will ensure that the HCC program effectively prevents and/or detects violations of law, regulations, J&J policies, including the Health Care Business Integrity Guide (HCBI), the Medical Technology Associations of Australia and New Zealand and Medicines Australia and New Zealand Codes of Practice in respective partnering franchises and/or departments:

Demonstrating and modeling an operational excellence mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

Partnering with commercial and functional stakeholders to shape business practices and initiatives: Influencing ethical, patient-centric decision-making, anchored on compliant engagement with Health Care Professionals and Government Officials, aligned with J&J’s HCBI Guide, HCC policies, the industry code and applicable laws and regulations.

Supporting commercial and functional leaders in building risk acumen, as well in identifying, understanding and managing HCC risks through strategic partnership. Support ethical decision-making capability within the business by participating in franchise and/or department leadership team meeting, reviewing strategies / tactics and other significant business initiatives.

Implementing an effective compliance program, aligned to the DOJ’s 10 Hallmarks; partnering with global & regional functions to continuously evolve program effectiveness and share best practices.

Ensuring business activities with Health Care Providers (HCPs)/government officials are planned in consistence with applicable HCC policies and procedures by reviewing and pre-approving (where applicable) those activities. Acting as a consultant, providing day-to-day guidance and advice to covered employees. Deploying HCC policies and/or procedures in covered franchise and/or department by providing necessary training and/or communication to covered employees, managing changes, and monitoring implementation.

Managing risks involving third party intermediaries by implementing the due diligence process in covered business areas, including training to business sponsors, coordinating the process with franchise operation team, and reviewing due diligence questionnaires.

Leading HCC Monitoring activities: Ensure HCC Monitoring programs identify warning signals and/or gaps and provide meaningful feedback to franchise/department leadership so that appropriate corrective actions are taken accordingly. Prepare and present Monitoring reports for Compliance Committees; implement and follow up on the Management Action Plan and guide the business partners to close gaps and implement corrective actions.

About you:

Minimum of 05 years business, legal and/or compliance related experience.
Minimum of BA/BS required. MBA or any other advanced degree preferred but not required.
Knowledge of FCPA, as well as relevant laws, regulations and industry standards for ANZ.
Ethics / Compliance certifications preferred but not a must.
Independent and objective thinker, able to advance ideas and influence others.
Managing conflicts in an open and constructive manner.
Demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Deals well with ambiguity and good judgement for novel/complex matters: Ability to shape and lead under ambiguity; ability to create clarity.
Analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excels at developing and maintaining effective partnerships and working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of organization based on an understanding of their concerns, needs and motivations.
Ability to make and stand by and effectively communicate difficult decisions.
