What you will be challenged to do:
We are looking for a Project Engineer with 4-10 years of design experience, ready to contribute to our dynamic team working on Phase I and Phase II projects involving roadways, bridges, aviation, transit, and rail. You will assist in various tasks including:
• Plan preparation and quantity calculations
• Geometric and drainage design
• Pavement marking/signing
• Traffic studies and signal design
• Public involvement and report writing
• Specifications and cost estimates
• Collaborating on multidisciplinary projects
In this role, you may manage other engineers and technicians to ensure timely task completion under the direction of a team leader and project manager, while also completing independent tasks. Depending on your experience level, you might take on responsibilities as a project manager or deputy project manager. Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer, Microstation, Geopak, and MS Office will be required.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Analyzing information and data for routine design tasks, ensuring precision in engineering design, quality presentation, and adherence to budgets and schedules
• Making independent decisions on engineering methods and occasionally representing the organization in meetings
• Receiving clear instructions from the Project Manager to achieve expected results
• Obtaining technical guidance for complex problems and supervisory approval for project plans
• Maintaining communication with the Project Manager about workload, project schedule changes, and scope adjustments
• Staying current by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional societies
What you will bring to our firm:
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, ideally with Illinois DOT, Illinois Tollway, Chicago DOT, and Federally funded projects
• Active Illinois PE license
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Experience in highway, drainage, construction inspection, traffic signals, and/or lighting is preferred

Employment Status: Full-Time
Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 (salary dependent upon experience and geographic location).
