Our Opportunity
Job Purpose
To manage and analyse costs to help our hotels to make informed financial decisions, improve efficiency, profitability and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Key Responsibilities:
• Cost Analysis: Examining and analysing costs associated with business operations.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborating with other departments to develop budgets and forecasts based on cost analysis to help the business to plan for future expenses and set realistic financial goals.
• Variance Analysis: Investigating and explaining the differences between planned and actual costs, identifying the reasons for discrepancies and providing insights to management to help control costs.
• Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement by working with departments to streamline processes and eliminate unnecessary expenses.
• Financial Reporting: Providing accurate and timely cost-related information for financial statements and reports. This involves working closely with the finance team to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Cost Control: Developing and implementing strategies to control costs and maximise profitability. This may involve recommending changes to business processes, negotiating with suppliers, or finding ways to optimise resource utilisation.
• Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations and stay informed about changes in accounting rules and make adjustments to practices as necessary.
• Decision Support: Assisting management in making informed decisions by providing cost-related insights. This could involve evaluating the financial impact of different business strategies or investment decisions.
• Use segment analysis to provide insight and projections, as well as harnessing analytics software e.g. PMS such as info
Other Responsibilities
• Reconcile trade payable aging
• Post payroll journal into PAYE, PSA and pension
• Attend P&L reviews with hotels team and GMs
• Finalise cost forecast with GM and Cluster team
• Review accuracy of invoices from procurement PW/Adecco into NetSuite
• Full ownership of Procure to pay ("P2P") process
Skills And Qualifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Demonstrable experience of building complex reports in Excel.
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or studying towards recognised accounting qualification with at least five years’ experience
• Experience of developing and completing analysis projects
• Experience presenting analysis and driving actions from insights
• Knowledge of using Netsuite or Fairmas or any relevant reporting tool
• Attention to detail, taking ownership for accuracy of output
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise work effectively
• Excellent communication skills and organised, with attention to detail
• Good understanding of hospitality commercial analysis and statistics
• Exposure to Hospitality industry will be beneficial
• Experience of creating, recording, maintaining controls and governance eg P2P (procure to pay), R2R (record to report) and O2C (order to cash)
