Centrepoint is the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity and now the largest provider of Housing First for young people in England, is looking for a Housing First Officer to join our teams based in our Lambeth Services.

About us

We help vulnerable young people by providing practical and emotional support to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint offers homeless young people accommodation, health support, and life skills to return to education, training, and employment. Our goal is to end youth homelessness by 2037, and together with our partners, we support over 14,000 young people each year.

As a Housing First Worker, you'll be part of a team of 12, the largest Housing First for Youth (HF4Y) service in the country, supporting 60 young people with multiple and complex needs. This team is part of the Lambeth Young People’s Pathway, a finalist in the London Homelessness Awards. This innovative service is based on the philosophy that housing is a human right, with no preconditions, and aims to embed the HF4Y model into everyday practice. Lambeth Council collaborates with us creatively and is one of six Homewards sites, a project by the Princes’ Trust to end homelessness.

Strong people skills to build psychologically informed relationships with young people.
Effective communicator with a natural ability to facilitate open and honest conversations.

Able decisionmaker with a can-do attitude.
Respectful and empathetic, always considering the impact on our young people.
Flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
Engaging and committed to selfdevelopment through training and continuous learning.
Proactive, always looking for creative ways of working.
Experience working with young people or adults with multiple and complex needs, preferably in outreach or floating support.
Prepared to work across Lambeth services, visiting young people in their homes and communities.
What you’ll be doing...

Visiting young people in their homes and supporting them in their journey, coproducing holistic support interventions and strengths-based risk management plans that promote wellbeing and support young people to achieve positive outcomes
Working proactively with young people to sustain their tenancies and prevent homelessness
Actively supporting young people to set up their homes, including supporting them with obtaining white goods and furniture
Advocating, signposting and referring young people to a range of internal and community resources to support them to develop the skills, resilience and confidence to live happy and successful lives
Willingness to work flexibly in accordance with the needs of young people, with some evening and weekend working required
