About the role
Reporting to the National HR Manager, you will be based at our Dandenong location and partner with operational leaders in the southern regions – NSW, VIC, TAS & SA. You will drive workforce performance, manage enterprise risk, and enable the delivery of the Steelforce business’ strategic and commercial objectives.

You will be a trusted advisor to leaders, providing commercially astute, pragmatic and forward-looking HR guidance across employee relations, industrial relations, workforce planning, talent, performance, and change.

You will be accountable for shaping leader capability, influencing decision-making, mitigating people risk, and balancing short-term operational needs with longer-term enterprise outcomes. We are looking for individuals who have worked within complex, unionised and multi-site environments.

This role is 3 days in office and will require you to travel interstate from time to time.

Responsibilities
Support approximately 250 employees across * sites within a highly operational, unionised environment

With the support of other HR functions, act as the primary HR partner to leaders across the Southern region, influencing workforce and leadership decisions through a strong commercial and risk-based lens

Translate business strategy into practical people plans, including workforce planning, succession, capability uplift and organisational design

Own the ER/IR risk profile for the Southern region, proactively identifying issues and advising leaders on mitigation strategies

Support the business through periods of industrial complexity, change and negotiation, balancing operational continuity with long-term enterprise leverage

Interface primarily with the United Workers Union

Your experience
To be successful in this role you will have an enterprise and commercial mindset, with the ability to influence and engage with individuals across all levels. You will thrive in a changing environment where no two days are the same and as such be flexible and resilient in managing priorities.

A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or an associated discipline

Significant experience operating as a senior HR Generalist or HRBP in a complex, operational and unionised environment

Demonstrated capability advising leaders on high-risk ER/IR and workforce decisions

Experience in a similar level influencing role, managing complex stakeholders

Manufacturing or similar heavy industry exposure would be advantageous

Robust knowledge and working experience with Australian employment law
