Job Description
The HR Generalist is part of the leadership team that advises, supports the entire leadership team with recruitment, HR issues, progressive discipline while engaging employees at all levels and promoting a safety culture within the organization
Reporting Relationships
The HR Generalist reports to the HR Manager and COO of Food4Change and interacts with all levels of the leadership teams, supervision teams and all employees at all levels.
There are no direct reports to this position.
Key Responsibilities
Duties as described, included to but not limited to the following:
Cover onboarding for new employees, update and distribute HR policy and procedure manuals
Work with Directors to streamline the interview process and manage job postings
Coordinate and develop the probationary review and annual performance review process.
Establish, implement and coordinate health and safety program specific to the company
Work with and provide training to the company's employees to foster a positive safety culture
Lead all Investigations of incidents and near misses with supervision teams including paperwork, reports to Worksafe BC and WCB (Saskatchewan)
Establish and coordinate committees, safety Identify training resources and facilitate training and development programs and initiatives
Prepare, distribute and update HR policy and procedure manuals, including Occupational Health & Safety policies, fire safety plan, training manuals and other HR publications.
Process changes in employment statuses, personnel records, resignations, retirements, extended unpaid leaves and changes in full-time equivalencies and communicates all changes to appropriate departments and contacts.
Assist in payroll iniatives
Oversee the company benefit plan and aid employees in their benefit needs
Manage day to day HR functions in cooperation and assistance with department managers and directors
Manage disability management in cooperation with Finance
Works with managers and supervisors in the delivery of disciplinary measures up to and including termination.
Update, maintain, create a Health and Safety Management System, Risk Assessments, Safety Statistics (leading and lagging indicators);
Coordinate annual safety training as required;
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12 or Equivalent
HR diploma or degree is an asset
Completion of a recognized accounting program and bookkeeping course
Knowledge and Skills
Previous AP/AR experience a definite asset.
Ability to work with spreadsheet programs (Google Slides, Access and Excel), and word processing programs (Word), Google Suite
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in teams and work with one another;
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
Ability to ask clarifying questions to determine vendor specifications and expectations;
Demonstrates excellent judgment within the scope of duties;

Demonstrable experience with accounting software (i.e. Sage, Simply Accounting, Traverse)
