Job Description: HR Head

The HR Head will lead and manage all aspects of the Human Resources function within the steel fabrication factory. The role involves overseeing the recruitment, training, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and compliance related to a workforce involved in manufacturing and industrial production. The HR Head will drive strategic HR initiatives that contribute to building a high-performing, safe, and engaged workforce, while ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic HR Leadership:

 Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the factory’s business goals and

organizational culture.

 Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing insights and

recommendations on HR issues and challenges.

 Lead HR planning to ensure workforce optimization and efficient staffing in line with

production schedules and demand.

2. Talent Acquisition & Recruitment:

 Oversee the recruitment process for all levels of the workforce, from skilled labor to

managerial roles, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.

 Collaborate with hiring managers to create role-specific job descriptions and define key

competencies required for success.

 Ensure the use of effective recruitment strategies, including partnerships with local job

boards, recruitment agencies, and educational institutions.

 Manage the onboarding process, ensuring new hires are fully integrated into the

workforce quickly and efficiently.

3. Employee Relations & Engagement:

 Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment by addressing employee

concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting strong employee-manager relationships.

 Develop and implement employee engagement programs to increase retention, morale,

and overall productivity.

 Conduct regular employee satisfaction surveys and take action based on feedback.

 Act as the primary point of contact for employee grievances and resolve issues

promptly.

4. Training & Development:

 Design and implement training programs to enhance the skills and performance of

employees, with an emphasis on safety, technical skills, and leadership development.

 Ensure all workers comply with health and safety regulations by providing mandatory

training and safety workshops.

 Identify skill gaps and facilitate learning and development initiatives to meet both

current and future needs of the workforce.

5. Performance Management:

 Oversee the performance appraisal process, ensuring objective setting, feedback, and

development plans are in place for all employees.

 Provide guidance to managers on conducting performance reviews and handling

performance-related issues.

 Implement a reward and recognition program that motivates employees and reinforces

desired behaviors and outcomes.

6. Compensation & Benefits:

 Oversee the design and administration of competitive compensation structures,

ensuring pay scales are aligned with industry standards.

 Manage benefits programs, including health insurance, pension plans, and other perks,

ensuring they remain competitive and compliant with regulations.

 Conduct periodic salary reviews and benchmarking exercises to ensure compensation

packages are attractive and sustainable.

7. Legal Compliance & Health & Safety:

 Ensure HR policies, processes, and procedures comply with all labor laws, industrial

relations regulations, and health and safety standards.

 Stay updated with changes in labor laws and regulatory requirements affecting the

manufacturing and steel fabrication sectors.

 Coordinate with the safety team to ensure adherence to workplace safety standards and

help drive a safety-first culture.

 Manage any workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, or legal disputes, ensuring

due process and fair treatment.

8. Payroll Management:

 Oversee the timely and accurate processing of employee payroll, ensuring that all

deductions, bonuses, and allowances are correctly applied.

 Ensure payroll complies with tax regulations and other statutory deductions.

 Collaborate with finance to manage budgeting for labor costs and headcount.

 Manage relationships with labor unions (if applicable), and address any collective

bargaining agreements or union-related issues.

 Serve as the liaison for any labor disputes, negotiating fair and balanced solutions.

10. HR Systems and Reporting:

 Implement and manage HR information systems (HRIS) to ensure data accuracy, privacy,

and compliance.

 Produce HR metrics and reports for senior management, providing insights into staffing,

turnover, absenteeism, and other key performance indicators.

 Monitor and report on HR-related KPIs, providing actionable insights and

recommendations.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

 Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

(required).

 Master’s degree in HR, MBA, or similar advanced qualification (preferred).

Professional Certifications:

 HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, CIPD, or similar) (preferred).

 Knowledge of manufacturing industry HR best practices (preferred).

Experience:

 At least 8-10 years of experience in HR management, with at least 5 years in a

leadership role, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or steel fabrication

environments.

 Strong experience in managing large workforces, including unionized environments.

 Experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and

safety compliance in a factory setting.

Skills:

 Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and

manage teams effectively.

 Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

 In-depth knowledge of labor laws, health and safety regulations, and industrial relations.

 Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

 Proficient in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and payroll software.

Location: Factory-based, with some flexibility for office-based tasks.

hours depending on factory needs.

 Environment: Manufacturing plant environment, requiring adherence to safety standards.
