Your future role:
Alstom is seeking an experienced HR Manager for a permanent, standalone role supporting key functions at our Bellevue, WA site. Reporting to the HR Business Partnering Lead for the Rolling Stock & Components Product Line, you will partner closely with the Metronet project team, delivering proactive, value-adding HR support tailored to their business needs. This includes leading enterprise bargaining negotiations, guiding the site through transformational change, and driving a positive workplace culture.
A key focus of the role is to empower leaders, managers, supervisors, and team leaders with the confidence and capability to navigate employment law, corporate governance, and respectful workplace practices effectively.
You will:
Build strong, trusting relationships and connect effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Provide IR/ER advice, including interpreting legislation, awards, contracts, and policies
Lead investigations, resolution, and coaching on complex industrial relations and employee relations issues
Support and coach managers through performance improvement processes, difficult conversations, and the full Performance Management Cycle (reviews, objectives, salary adjustments, succession planning)
Deliver governance training to managers, supervisors, and team leaders on employment law, corporate obligations, and Respect at Work
Confidently support enterprise bargaining negotiations, work collaboratively with unions and employee delegates, and manage union-related matters
Drive site change management, HR projects, and improved communication cascades with an IR/ER focus
Manage day-to-day generalist HR activities, expatriate/visa processes (in partnership with mobility team), Bellevue-related Compensation & Benefits tasks, and provide reporting/data insights to support business decisions
About you:
Hold a tertiary degree in a related field
Bring significant experience in employment/labour law, gained through HR, ER, or IR roles
Demonstrate proven expertise and confidence in supporting Enterprise Agreement (EA) negotiations, including close collaboration with union delegates
Possess comprehensive knowledge of industrial relations principles and their impact on business performance
Have generalist HR experience across all areas of HR practice within a matrix organisation
Show strong negotiation and influencing skills to engage diverse stakeholders effectively
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous industrial environment
Operate as a proactive IR/ER subject matter expert, enthusiastic about driving change
Articulate views and advice clearly to a wide range of audiences
