Job Description
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Human Resources Executive to join our team at The Mandrake. As a Human Resources Executive, you will play an essential role in ensuring that all our staff have comprehensive, confidential Human Resource support whilst building strong relationships and engagement throughout the hotel.
Role Overview
The HR Executive will be responsible for delivering end-to-end human resources support across the hotel, covering the full HR lifecycle. This is a hands-on role requiring strong interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to operate confidently in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The role works closely with department heads and senior leadership to ensure HR best practice, compliance, and employee engagement.
What you’ll do?
Full HR Lifecycle Management
• Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, probation, development, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding.
• Support managers with performance reviews, appraisals, and capability processes as required.
• Oversee contract management, changes to terms, and leaver processes in line with employment law and company policy, supported by our HR Legal advisors.
Recruitment and Onboarding
• Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities across all departments, including advertising roles, screening candidates, arranging interviews, and issuing offers.
• Ensure a smooth and engaging onboarding experience for all new starters, including onboarding days and right-to-work checks.
• Support workforce planning in collaboration with department heads.
Employee Relations
• Act as the first point of contact for employee relations matters, including absence management, grievances, disciplinaries, and performance concerns.
• Support investigations, hearings, and documentation in line with company policies and UK employment legislation, and with guidance from the external HR legal Support.
• Provide practical, balanced HR advice to managers while ensuring fairness and consistency.
HR Administration and compliance
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in line with GDPR requirements.
• Ensure compliance with UK employment law, hotel policies, and internal procedures.
• Support health & safety, wellbeing initiatives, and statutory reporting where required.
• Assist with audits and ensure HR documentation is consistently maintained.
Learning, Development & Engagement
• Coordinate training programmes, mandatory training, and development initiatives across the hotel.
• Support employee engagement activities, wellbeing initiatives, and internal communications.
• Assist with initiatives that promote inclusion, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture aligned with The Mandrake’s values.
HR Reporting and Payroll
• Prepare HR reports and metrics including turnover, absence, and training completion.
• Support payroll processing by ensuring accurate data is submitted on time in Fourth Payroll systems, and liaise with fourth and finance to ensure accurate monthly processing.
What you’ll have?
• Previous experience in an HR Executive, HR Officer, or similar generalist HR role.
• Knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience working in hospitality, leisure, or a fast-paced service environment is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust at all levels.
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Discreet, professional, and confident handling sensitive information.
• CIPD qualification (Level 3 or working towards Level 5) is advantageous.
