We are a diverse team of talented and unique individuals that operate a small portfolio of well-known neighborhood brands. We are seeking an HR Generalist to help us take our organization forward.

Job Overview:
The HR Generalist is responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay and processing payroll, liaising with the Company’s employee benefits broker, and enforcing company policies and practices. Due to the small size of the organization, the HR department is comprised of only the HR Generalist.

The HR Generalist will report directly to the CEO and Director of Finance. Working alongside the operations team, this individual will assist the Company in its growth through strategic planning and execution, and implementation of scalable systems.

Duties:

· Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead the recruitment and onboarding of qualified individuals through strategies that maximize hiring efficiencies and guarantee smooth integration into the company’s various brands.

· Talent Development: Develop and implement training programs, feedback surveys and employee recognition programs to enhance employee growth, engagement, and career progression across multiple levels.

· Administrative Activities: Payroll administration, benefits management, employee data management, documentation of all HR-related items throughout employee life cycle, record-keeping, and labor law compliance.

· Employee Relations & Discipline: Manage employee matters as they relate to HR, including but not limited to, disciplinary actions, staff disputes and investigations, occupational health and safety, and terminations.

· Policy Development: Review and update HR policies and procedures as laws and regulations evolve ensuring compliance at all levels.

· HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws through policies and procedures, overseeing disciplinary actions, and audits and investigations as they relate to the employee’s standing in the Company.

· Industry Trends: Analyze trends in best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies as they relate to human resources, talent management, and employment law.

· Compensation & Benefit Audits: Conduct audits of payroll, benefits, and HR programs and recommend corrective actions, including proposals to attract and retain top talent.

· Performance Management: Coach management teams across all levels to improve employee performance, accountability, and maintain a positive culture.

Requirements:

Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

· Minimum of 5 years of human resource experience.

· Fluent in English and Spanish; verbal and writing.

Interpersonal Skills

· Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

· Strong time management and organizational ability; able to prioritize tasks while handling multiple projects with attention to detail.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to pivot quickly.

· Results-driven with a focus on company culture and positive employee engagement.

· Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

· Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Additional Requirements

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

· Must be willing to travel between stores located in Maryland and Virginia as necessary.
