Position Summary:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR practices and processes within the organization. This includes recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, policy development, compliance, and fostering a positive work culture. The ideal candidate is a proactive and compassionate leader who understands the dynamics of home care and the importance of supporting both field and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Staffing
Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified home support workers and administrative staff.
Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle: job postings, interviews, reference checks, offers, and onboarding.
Maintain staffing levels aligned with operational needs and client demand
Employee Relations
Guide managers and staff on employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and performance improvement plans.
Foster a supportive and respectful workplace culture
Conduct investigations and handle disciplinary procedures as required
HR Policy & Compliance
Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks
Ensure compliance with employment laws, occupational health and safety regulations, collective agreements, union negotiations, and industry standards
Manage and maintain employee records in accordance with legal requirements and company policies
Training & Development
Coordinate orientation and training for new hires
Identify skill gaps and recommend training opportunities to support employee development.
Partner with external training providers and manage certification tracking (e.g., First Aid, WHMIS, etc.)
Compensation & Benefits
Assist with payroll coordination and benefits administration in partnership with finance and external providers.
Manage employee leaves, vacation accruals, and sick time
Provide information and support regarding benefits and HR programs
Workforce Planning & HR Metrics
Monitor HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and engagement
Prepare reports and make recommendations to improve HR operations
Support long-term workforce planning aligned with strategic growth
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum 3-5 years of HR management experience, preferably in healthcare, home care, or a similar field
Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Proficient in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and digital file management
HR Certification (CHRP/CPHR) is considered an asset
