Job Description
The Information Management Technology (IMT) Service Desk Cadet will support Council’s Information Management Technology team to help deliver Council services through proactive and customer focused technology support across the organisation.
This cadetship provides structured, work‑based training at Council while the successful candidate undertakes a relevant undergraduate degree at a university. The role offers hands on experience supporting Service Desk operations, responding to technology enquiries, and learning best‑practice Information and Communications Technology (ICT) service delivery within agreed service levels.
Key accountabilities are, but not limited to
Assist with the installation, support, and maintenance of IMT applications, hardware, and infrastructure in accordance with ITIL service management principles
Log, manage, and resolve Service Desk incidents and requests within agreed service levels, escalating issues as required
Provide first‑level technical support and respond to enquiries with a strong customer‑focused and solutions‑based approach
Assist with the deployment and support of Council’s Standard Operating Environment (SOE)
Maintain accurate records of work performed in corporate systems in line with Council policies and legislative requirements
Support the maintenance of the IMT knowledge base, technology assets, and mobile devices
Follow all required security, safety, and operational procedures and actively develop technical skills and knowledge
About You
Currently enrolled in a degree in Information Technology or a related discipline with an IT component
Strong customer service and communication skills
Willingness to learn technical systems, tools, and processes
Good time management and organisational skills
Adaptable, with the ability to troubleshoot issues with support
A positive and collaborative team approach
Flexibility to work as part of a roster, including counter, call centre, electronic customer service, and administrative duties across the day and week to meet operational requirements.

Temporary part time role - 21 hours per week, over 3 days (to be negotiated), for up to 2 years
Salary range: $32,717.50 – $37,479.68 per annum (part‑time equivalent), plus 12% superannuation
