About the Role

Eastern Guruma (EG) is seeking an Indigenous Employment & Development Program Coordinator to lead the design and delivery of our Aboriginal employment and career development initiatives, including our flagship Sparks to Flames program.

This role plays a critical part in supporting EG’s long-term goal of 50% Aboriginal workforce representation by building strong, sustainable pathways into employment, skills development, leadership and long-term careers across both blue- and white-collar roles.

Working closely with Human Resources, Training, Operations, Indigenous Business Development and external partners, you will bring together recruitment, training, development and succession planning into one coordinated, whole-of-business approach.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of the Sparks to Flames program.
Translate EG’s Aboriginal employment goals into practical, staged workforce initiatives.
Provide advice and insights to senior leaders on Aboriginal workforce development.

Workforce Pathways

Coordinate employment and development pathways including:
New-to-industry traineeships
Apprenticeships and trade pathways
Supervisory and leadership development
School-based work experience
TAFE, university, internship and graduate pathways
Future leader and successor talent pools

Recruitment & Talent Pipeline

Work with HR to align recruitment and selection with program pathways.
Build and maintain Aboriginal talent pools for critical roles.
Support succession planning for high-potential Aboriginal employees.
Ensure recruitment processes are culturally appropriate and inclusive.

Training & Development

Partner with the Training Coordinator to align training and competency frameworks.
Leverage funded and no-cost external programs to maximise outcomes.
Support tailored development plans for high-potential employees.

Partnerships & Engagement

Build strong relationships with training providers, schools, universities, RTOs and community organisations.
Represent EG at employment expos, forums and community events.
Identify funding and partnership opportunities that support Aboriginal employment.

Governance & Reporting

Track and report on participation, completion, progression and retention.
Maintain program documentation and governance frameworks.
Identify risks and barriers and recommend practical improvements.

Skills and Experiences:
About You

Tertiary or Cert IV qualifications in a related field (highly desirable)
Must be Indigenous Australian
Experience in Aboriginal employment, workforce development, training or community programs.
Strong relationship-building skills and cultural awareness.
Ability to coordinate multiple programs and stakeholders.
Comfortable working across corporate, operational and community environments.
Strong planning, reporting and continuous improvement mindset.
