Job Summary
The Intake Coordinator is the first point of contact within Queen's Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) for students, Queen's faculty and staff, and third parties with inquiries about services for students with disabilities. The Intake Coordinator advises students and faculty on the university's policy for accommodating students with disabilities, primarily related to the university's disability documentation requirements, supports students throughout the QSAS registration process.

The Intake Coordinator meets with students throughout their registration with QSAS to appropriately solicit information and documentation. The Intake Coordinator advises students directly about setting up accommodation related supports, or facilitates access to an Accessibility Advisor. The incumbent liaises across the University with students, faculty instructors, faculty admin staff, counsellors, and other medical professionals within SWS to successfully support student service delivery, by developing and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships. The Intake Coordinator participates in awareness, training, and departmental promotion activities.

This position acts as the first point of contact for accommodation and accessibility inquiries. This position assesses the urgency of student requests and directs long-term requests to accommodation advisors. This position reviews medical and psychoeducational assessments and implements short-term accommodations. This position provides advice and builds relationships with students, parents, faculty and other university departments and services to facilitate accommodation requests. This position also performs administrative duties.

Job Description
What you will do
Acts as first point of contact for accommodation and accessibility inquiries.

Maintains waiting lists for services, assesses the level of urgency of student requests, and directs long-term requests to accommodation advisors.

Reviews medical and psychoeducational assessments. Analyses, identifies and advises on available options for accommodation.

Implements short-term accommodations due to emergent or emergency situations.

Implements and oversees a protocol to accommodate student requests for short-term academic consideration.

Provides advice on the application process for Bursary for Students with Disabilities.

Interprets and implements accommodations as outlined in letters of accommodation.

Participates in ongoing review of protocol, makes recommendations for improvement, and implements changes.

Builds relationships with students, parents, faculty and other university departments and services to facilitate accommodation consideration requests.

Performs data analysis of accommodation requests to identify trends, concerns, or issues.

Performs administrative support and general correspondence.

Participates in annual recruitment activities such as prospective student visits, Ontario Universities Fair, Fall Preview, March Break Open House, and SOAR program.

Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.


Required Education
Master's Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires a professional designation, certification, or other qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.


Required Experience
More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.


Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Take action to remove obstacles and address problems before they impact performance and results.
