Discover a career with purpose at MBIE
Are you searching for an extremely rewarding career that values your sharp mind?
Advance your career in intelligence and meaningfully contribute to New Zealand's domestic security and nationwide regulatory practice.
Salary $75,114 - $88,266, + KiwiSaver + wellness benefits, Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch. Permanent role.
Tenei turanga - About the Role:
Step into a role within a mission-driven team where your analytical skills will have real-world impact and directly influence outcomes that matter. As an Intelligence Analyst in MBIE Intelligence and Country Research (MICR), you will grow your knowledge and expertise across key areas of responsibility for MBIE and the New Zealand government. You will build connections, form assessments and write reports to inform decisions and activities that will help protect New Zealand from harm and realise opportunities to grow the country for all.

Intelligence Analysts work in partnership across MBIE and other government agencies to inform decision makers. You will be an intelligence practitioner who can apply fundamental intelligence principles and methodology to particular portfolios, developing areas of specialisation and intelligence expertise.

MICR is a busy national team comprised of intelligence and research professionals, operating within a dynamic environment at high tempo. We are looking for intelligence achievers who are resilient and enthusiastic self-starters, who thrive in fast-paced environments and whose excellent communication skills, sound judgement, critical thinking and confidence will ensure they are a great team fit.

As a member of MICR, you will develop intelligence products and services for a wide range of customers from leadership teams to frontline staff. These products and services contribute at tactical, operational and strategic levels, to inform key New Zealand government priorities, policy and legislative issues and responses.

To do this effectively you must be comfortable in your ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders that ensure your customers get the intelligence services they need in a timely manner.

In return we offer:

The opportunity to work in a fantastic environment with a highly skilled, supportive and enthusiastic team.
You will be able to learn from the experience of seasoned intelligence practitioners and gain exposure to the wider New Zealand intelligence community of practice.
You will be given opportunities to develop and expand your professional skills, including training with other agencies as those opportunities present.
The chance to dive into work that can be fast-paced and will require you to demonstrate your flexibility, adaptability and resilience - this will stretch your thinking and your approach to problem solving as you assist with tactical, operational and strategic work.
If you want to grow your potential and expand your comfort zone, then this role is ideal.
