CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Internal Auditor to support the Director of the Internal Audit unit in the discharge of their duties. The internal auditor will evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of CIMMYT’s governance, risk management and control processes at headquarters and in the regional operations.
The position will be based in either Mexico, Zimbabwe or India.
Specific duties:
Providing Assurance, as a member of the internal audit unit:
Participate in the Annual Planning Process.
Conduct detailed risk-based audit work and document findings to a high standard and within budget.
Develop and submit timely audit work and draft findings.
Monitor actions were taken by management within the audit software MKInsight.
Maintaining a high-performing Internal Audit Unit – improvement and innovation:
Provide input into the future shape and direction of the Internal Audit Unit.
Maintain high-quality work standards and remain up to date with the evolution of standards and practices
Management support and learning:
Maintain respectful and effective communications and relationships with management and staff areas under review.
Facilitate the share of learning.
Contribute to systems development work within CIMMYT, providing independent advice regarding appropriate levels of internal control.
Required academic qualifications, skills, and attitudes:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or corresponding designation.
Proven significant working experience as an internal auditor, at least 5 years
Advanced level of English. English will be tested and the candidate should score a minimum of C1 on CEFR.
Demonstrated knowledge of auditing principles, practices, and techniques and the requirements of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
Understand scientific research controls and experience in auditing research science management processes.
Demonstrated ability to use relevant Data Analytics Tools and digitized audit tools is desirable.
Proven experience or willingness to travel for work in the regions where CIMMYT operates.
