About the Role – How you will Contribute to the Service:
The Halton Regional Police Service is continuing to strengthen its intelligence-led approach to policing—and we are seeking a highly skilled Investigative Analyst to help drive that work forward.
In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping investigative and operational outcomes by delivering timely, accurate, and actionable intelligence. Your analysis will directly support major investigations, inform strategic priorities, and contribute to identifying and addressing emerging crime trends and threats across the region.
As a key member of the Analytic Unit, you will work in close partnership with investigators, specialized units, and external agencies. You will leverage advanced analytical techniques and professional judgment to uncover patterns, assess risk, and provide insights that influence decision-making at both the tactical and strategic levels.

Here’s What you’ll get to do:
Monitor, assess, and interpret crime trends, patterns, and emerging issues locally and beyond to support proactive policing strategies.
Evaluate and synthesize information from diverse sources, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and appropriate handling of sensitive intelligence.
Apply advanced analytical methods—including statistical and spatial analysis—to identify relationships, patterns, and potential threats.
Produce clear, concise, and actionable intelligence products, including tactical reports on persons, groups, and criminal activity.
Conduct in-depth strategic analysis on organized crime groups impacting the region, including those identified by Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario.
Support investigations by developing insights, identifying linkages, and providing evidence-based recommendations to operational teams.
Collaborate with internal units, external agencies, and partner organizations to exchange intelligence and enhance investigative outcomes.
Present findings and brief stakeholders—including senior leadership—on key intelligence insights and emerging risks.
Develop and maintain intelligence systems, databases, and analytical tools, including creating automated queries and reporting templates.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of intelligence processes, data quality, and information-sharing practices.
Build and maintain a strong network of professional contacts to support intelligence gathering and collaboration.
Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of the role.
Perform other related duties as required in support of the unit’s mandate.
What you’ll Bring to the Role:
Education, Certifications and Qualifications:
Undergraduate University degree in a relevant field such as geography, statistics, mathematics or criminology etc. Certification as a Crime / Intelligence Analyst through IACA or IALEIA is an asset.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum of 3 years of progressive related experience having developed a solid foundation in the tools, methods and techniques used in crime/ intelligence analysis work. Proven ability to conduct thorough research weaving together information from various sources into actionable intelligence. Applying appropriate statistical and analytical principles, methods and techniques.
Ability to deal with normalizing and manipulating large data sets and appropriately apply advanced level formulas/functions in Microsoft Excel. Well versed in the application of geographic information system (GIS) tools and the i2 Analysts Notebook software package.
Previous policing and/or enforcement experience is considered an asset.
Note: The successful applicant will need to pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Service which will include reference checks with previous employers, verification of educational achievements, and a criminal background screen.

Core Working Hours: 35 hours per week: Monday - Friday
Salary Range: $95,921.00 to $106,578.00
