Mō mātou - About us

When you join Presbyterian Support Central (PSC), you’re becoming part of something truly special, a not-for-profit organisation that’s been helping people for more than 115 years. Everything we do is about supporting people at the most vulnerable times of their lives, whether that’s an older person needing care and connection, or a family working through tough times.

PSC has two well-known service brands that lie at the heart of our mahi:

Enliven: our positive ageing services that create age-friendly communities where older people have companionship, choice, fun, and purpose.
Family Works: our social services supporting children and whānau through counselling, social work, life-skills and parenting programmes and safety services.
Cashmere Home offers a welcoming environment with compassionate care, modern facilities, and strong community connections. Residents stay connected with family and friends and often take part in shaping daily life.

Together, we make a lasting difference.

Mō te tūranga - About the role

As a Kitchen hand, you will be responsible for assisting the Food Services Team Leader to prepare and serve tasty and nutritious meals for lunch and dinner. Confidence in the kitchen with meal preparation is important along with the following:

Prepare morning and afternoon tea, as well as daily meals
Clear tables when all residents have finished eating
Ensure meals are served at the appropriate size and temperature
Maintain daily food and fridge temperature checks
Operate within food hygiene standards and protocols
Be considerate of residents during mealtimes and ensure their needs are met appropriately
As there will be a requirement to carry out meal preparation, some flexibility regarding daily duties will be expected to meet the needs of the kitchen.

Hours for this role are in the morning working 6:00am to 14.00pm Saturday, Sunday and Mondays. There is a possibility of additional hours at times to cover leave and so flexibility and willingness to help at these times is always appreciated!

Mō koe - About you

Experience working in a kitchen (preferred)
Good communication skills and have a person-centred approach
High standards of personal hygiene and appearance
If you hold a food safety/hygiene certificate, that would be great but if you don't have one we can train you in what you need to know
Enjoy being able to contribute to the work of your team and how this impacts the experiences of our residents
Mo o tatau painga - About our benefits

Benefit from our staff well-being calendar - regular events and programmes to promote wellness for all of us
