Shank Law Professional Corporation has been serving the Alliston, Barrie, Orangeville, Innisfil and Newmarket communities since 2008. We specialize in Family Law – including Separation Agreements, Cohabitation Agreements, Divorces, and Family Law Litigation.
We are currently seeking a Law Clerk to join our diverse team, and assist our Solicitor and the Legal Receptionist with various tasks and responsibilities as follows:
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative support
Managing files from inception to completion
First point of contact with clients
Organizing and overseeing lawyer’s calendar
Drafting court pleadings, including but not limited to, Financial Statements, analyzing Financial Disclosure, Case Conference Briefs, Settlement Conference Briefs, etc.
Corresponding with opposing counsel, clients and the courts
Knowledge and understanding of the Family Law Rules and Practice Directions
Serving and filing court documents pursuant to the Family Law Rules
Other duties as required

Professionalism and flexibility
Time management, file management, and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment during high pressure situations
Understanding of and respect for confidentiality requirements
Ability to work independently as well as a strong team member
Family Law experience will be considered an asset
Working knowledge of PC Law is an asset but not required
Ability to speak other languages is an asset
The ideal candidate will have a Law Clerk Diploma (required), Paralegal license is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years experience in Family Law. You must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail and are able to resolve complex issues that arise. As a Law Clerk you are responsible for handling legal work related to family law matters, and meeting with clients.
