A regional retail organisation with a head office close to Portsmouth. Growth plans drive the need for an experienced Management Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis.
Your new role
A Management Accountant role leading a small operational finance team for a division of this regional retail organisation. You will ensure that a consistent, robust finance offering is available to the wider business, ensuring that all obligations are met in a timely manner.
You will have total oversight of the production of all management accounts, including VA, gap and commentary where appropriate. You will also own the delivery of all annual processes and budgets, utilising the support of the operational team to deliver effectively. Where required, you will attend monthly reviews, present and influence your stakeholders to take advantage of market opportunities.
As part of your people leadership, you will ensure that there is a focus on the development of your team, offering growth opportunities where possible, in areas such as process improvement and automation particularly.
There is scope, as part of this role, to be heavily involved in financial appraisal processes in line with the growth plans, utilising your knowledge and systems to ensure accurate projections to identify suitable investment opportunities. You will also, working alongside the audit partner, take ownership of statutory accounts, VAT returns and selected tax tasks.
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in a Management Accountant role, with a relevant qualification. You ideally have team management experience and exposure to taxation, though this is desirable, not essential. You will need to be a highly commercial individual, willing to learn and capable of seeing opportunities and utilising them.
