THE POSITION
Are you looking for a challenging legal environment to showcase your knowledge and experience? Look no further than the Department of Labor & Industry, Unemployment Compensation Board of Review (UCBR) Pittsburgh Referee Office. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and organized professional to join our team in the role of supporting the referee staff and processing unemployment compensation appeals. This role will involve handling complex legal issues and requires dedication, a positive attitude, and excellent organizational skills. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Legal Assistant 2, you will have a wide range of responsibilities and tasks to complete. Utilizing your excellent communication skills, you will manage the referee's hearing schedule, prepare hearing notices, and transcribe decisions from digital recordings. In addition, you will be responsible for preparing decisions from typed drafts, proofreading documents, verifying and inputting data, and maintaining both electronic and paper files. You will handle client inquiries and maintain positive relationships. An ideal candidate for the position will be proficient in navigating computer applications and systems, as well as interpreting various types of documentation and records. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills to effectively manage the referee hearing process and support the team in their work.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Work hours are negotiable.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allegheny County. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as a Legal Assistant 1; (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Four years of responsible clerical, investigative or enforcement work including one year of legal clerical support experience; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
