About the role:


Join our dynamic team as a Legal Counsel! In this role, you'll provide expert legal advice and contractual and commercial guidance on a variety of interesting and significant matters, ensuring we effectively manage our commercial risk while meeting business and operational needs.

Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel and based in Adelaide, you will support the award-winning Group Legal & Commercial function. This commercially orientated legal position will play a pivotal role in enabling Nova Systems to deliver high quality services to new and existing clients within acceptable risk profiles. Additionally, you'll play a key role in developing and implementing policies, processes, and tools that drive our commercial objectives and compliance.

What you will be involved in:



Reviews and drafting of commercial contracts (including supply contracts, customer contracts, leases and confidentiality agreements) to ensure alignment with organisational objectives and legal requirements
Providing legal advice and related commercial guidance in respect of business tendering activities
Providing commercially orientated legal advice and engagement strategies in respect of project-based activities and transactions
Supporting and, where appropriate, leading contractual negotiations
Providing guidance to the business in respect of contract and legal compliance, risk identification and mitigation, dispute resolution, intellectual property, confidential information and insurances
Effectively interfacing with group corporate support functions
Engaging with external legal support
Supporting the management of Group insurance coverages
Supporting the delivery of internal training, policy development and implementation, and effective governance tools and processes


What we would like from you:


Bachelor of Laws or equivalent with approximately two to four years post-admission experience
Have full working rights in Australia and hold (or be eligible to hold) an Australian Practiscing Certificate
Demonstrated ability to develop productive, trusting relationships with individuals from varying backgrounds and levels of seniority
A blend of experience across private practice and in-house roles, particularly in commercial/corporate law, intellectual property (IP), mergers and acquisitions (M&A), defence, contract law and tendering, will be highly valued
