Opportunity
We are seeking a qualified legal professional to join our team in Baulkham Hills as a Legal Counsel. This is a corporate strategic counsel role where you will be successfully delivering legal and commercial solutions in a highly dynamic market.
You will be responsible for the legal function including but not limited to contract management and maintenance, third party risk management (due diligence). The function will also support Valvoline's license to operate, compliance, and secretarial obligations as well as the support in the drafting, negotiating and execution of agreements across the region.
In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For
Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and finalising a broad range of commercial contracts and other agreements (including, but not limited to: distributor, service and supply agreements, marketing, sponsorship and promotion agreements, and employment contracts
Preparing resolutions and updating corporate documentation in accordance with business needs and legal requirements
Maintaining structure and records of intercompany service, license and other agreements, in consultation with the applicable departments
Managing and maintaining 3rd party risk management overview
Providing a broad spectrum of legal support (not limited to) on general legal advice, employment law matters, general litigation, commercial contracts, competition, personal data etc
Maintaining sound relationships with the Australia Pacific (and Rest of Asia where applicable) business across all functions including Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing and Human Resources
Assisting with miscellaneous legal administration tasks as directed by the Lead Counsel
Engaging in efforts to proactively identify and mitigate legal exposure and litigation costs
To Be Successful, You Will Have
Ideally a minimum of 5 years PQE as an in-house legal counsel / sole counsel
Ability to anticipate and analyse legal issues
Proven ability to proactively build internal and external stakeholder relationships
High degree of professional ethics, integrity and values
A proactive and positive attitude with the ability to use initiative
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high attention to detail
