Position Overview
The Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to the organization, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, managing legal risks, and advising on corporate governance, contracts, and dispute resolution. This role requires strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to balance legal requirements with business objectives. In addition, the role will include selected Business Development responsibilities, focusing on supporting strategic growth initiatives, partnerships, and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
• Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
• Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and provide proactive solutions.
• Corporate Governance: Advise management on governance matters, policies, and procedures.
• Litigation Support: Manage disputes, liaise with external counsel, and oversee litigation strategy.
• Advisory Role: Provide legal opinions on business transactions, employment matters, and intellectual property.
• Training & Awareness: Conduct workshops on compliance, ethics, and legal policies for employees.
Business Development Responsibilities
• Market Research: Identify new business opportunities, emerging markets, and potential clients.
• Partnership Development: Support negotiations and structuring of strategic alliances and joint ventures.
• Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
• Revenue Growth: Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to drive business expansion.
• Strategic Planning: Contribute to long-term growth strategies by aligning legal frameworks with business goals.
• Proposal Support: Assist in drafting proposals, bids, and presentations with legal and commercial inputs.
Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelors degree in law (LLB - Company Law), Masters degree (LLM) preferred.
• Licensed to practice law in relevant jurisdiction.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in corporate or commercial law.
• Strong knowledge of contract law, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in business development, client relations, or corporate strategy is a plus.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High ethical standards and integrity.
