Job Description:
We are seeking a Legal Counsel & Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team in Delhi, reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the financial area, particularly in Fintech, Payment institutions, or Electronic Money Institutions (EMI).
Key Responsibilities:
• Regulatory Compliance & Legal Reporting:
• Provide counsel on regulatory compliance for payment institutions across Singapore, India, the Middle East, Europe, and the US.
• Ensure timely and accurate legal reporting in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Monitor changes in laws and issue recommendations to ensure compliance.
• Data Protection (DPO):
• Act as the Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations in multiple jurisdictions including India, Singapore, UAE, UK, Europe, Canada, and the US.
• Conduct data protection audits and implement necessary changes.
• Educate and train staff on data protection regulations and compliance.
• Contract Support:
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, NDAs, terms and conditions, cookies policies, and other legal documents.
• Provide legal support for corporate activities and ensure the company’s legal rights are maintained.
• Collaborate closely with business units to tailor contracts that align with strategic objectives and mitigate risks.
Candidate Profile:
• Law degree from a reputable university.
• 5-8 years of experience as a Legal Counsel or lawyer, preferably in Fintech or Payment institutions.
• Strong expertise in regulatory compliance, legal reporting, and data protection.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Understanding of Indian laws and regulations, with knowledge of common laws and European civil laws as a plus.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
