About the role

As a Legal Counsel – Investment Projects, you’ll be a trusted adviser and business partner in relation to investment matters, providing specialist, solutions-focused legal advice, and services. You will be part of the legal team with a focus on supporting the project implementing APRA’s CPS230 Operational Risk Management.


Day to day, you'll:

Provide timely, accurate and strategic legal advice on investment related activities.
Provide advice and expertise on investment related documentation and investment structures and supporting various projects, with a primary focus on organisational resilience.
Provide advice and expertise on documentation engaging custodians, administrators, investment managers and other service providers.
Promote risk culture including managing legal and reputational risk of Australian Retirement Trust.
Collaborate and develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure advice is provided having regard to the strategic goals of Australian Retirement Trust.

This role is available as a fixed-term opportunity until 30 June 2026.


You'll have the flexibility to work from home, provided you can attend the office at least twice a week.


About you

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

Tertiary qualification in Law and a current unrestricted practising certificate as a Legal Practitioner in Australia.

Extensive legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house (investment bank, asset manager or superannuation fund) specialising in investments.

Ability to lead negotiations on a range of matters.

Experience in advising and working collaboratively with business teams to deliver time and business critical projects.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strategic working relationships, influence, negotiate with and persuade senior stakeholders.

Ability to advise and support key projects and transactions and juggle various projects.
