About the Role

">
This is a fixed term, in-house counsel role within a collaborative and highly skilled Legal services team. As a Legal Counsel, you will provide legal advice and services across a broad range of legal disciplines.

">
You will report to the General Counsel and manage your own files, which may include legal interpretation and application of the CFA Act and Regulations. You will advise and negotiate on commercial and inter-governmental matters, including MOUs, agreements, contracts, property licences and leases.

">
You will also work with external lawyers, provide advice on employment and industrial matters, volunteer discipline, and advise on legal risks associated with CFA's activities.

">
This critical role will support the whole organisation and provide strategic, practical, and outcome-focused legal advice and analysis across all areas of the law.

">
You will receive support and mentorship from the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, and have the opportunity to influence executives, collaborate with CFA employees, engage with volunteer members, and liaise with external lawyers.

">
Additionally, you will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing high-quality, well-researched, and concise advice, reports, briefs, and correspondence.

">
Your success in this role will depend on your proven experience in providing strategic legal advice, including the interpretation and application of legislation in complex environments.
