Industry-leading flexible work policies – utilise DeloitteFlex to work in a way that suits you best

We have a full-time permanent opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic junior lawyer to join the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) and support a leading professional services firm.

What will your typical day look like?

Life at Deloitte is high-tempo and impactful – there is no typical day! On any day you may be negotiating key alliance and sponsorship agreements, coming up with pragmatic legal solutions to help stakeholders achieve their goals, or simplifying the go-to-market approach for new products and services.

As part of the OGC, you will be part of an inclusive, supportive and experienced team that services a wide portfolio focused on the new products and services and alliances space. Working closely with senior lawyers, you will assist in navigating and delivering on complex commercial challenges, such as alliances, resellers and third-party vendor arrangements that are directly integral to Deloitte’s business strategy.

We are committed to always learning. You will contribute to precedent and practice management, team development and may assist in various exciting projects (including implementation of AI based legal tools) on which the team is working. We value people who spot issues early, propose options, and drive outcomes. We are looking for a candidate that wants to build trusted relationships, run their own matters, and establish their reputation within the business.

About the team

The Office of General Counsel is an award-winning, innovative, high-performing team of trusted advisors that provide legal advice to Deloitte Australia and Deloitte Asia Pacific. We value intellectual curiosity, commerciality, empathy and an ability to develop creative and pragmatic solutions to complex legal problems.

If you’re looking for a team that is dynamic, collaborative and will constantly challenge your legal thinking – the Office of the General Counsel is the place for you.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you.

You will be an intellectually curious and driven lawyer with a minimum of 2 - 3 years’ PQE in commercial contracting (with experience in technology and third-party solutions a preference). This role is perfect for a self-starter, looking to develop their contracting skills and keen to support a business with bold growth plans.

A keen interest and understanding and demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating third party arrangements such as alliances, resellers, sponsorships, events, supply and licensing agreements
The ability to manage the end-to-end contracting process from initial business advice through to review, drafting and negotiation of non-standard terms
A strong foundation of core legal concepts in commercial law and the ability to apply those concepts in a professional services context
Strong analytical skills with a high level of strategic thinking to craft elegant solutions to complex problems and out-of-the-box arrangements
Excellent organisational skills and ability to handle a high volume of matters across all areas of the firm
Strong empathy and an ability to build relationships at all levels of the business to support problem solving and informed decision making
Ability to work both as part of a team as well as independently where required
Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills to deliver advice pragmatically with the ability to zoom in or out as required
A positive, energetic and collaborative mindset who will thrive in a highly agile and geographically dispersed team
