Job Description
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the world’s most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention, is seeking an attorney with strong litigation experience to join our organization as a Legal Officer, Ethics & Conflicts of Interest. This role serves as in-house legal counsel on complex compliance matters involving conflicts of interest, export controls, undue foreign influence, and corporate compliance within a highly regulated healthcare and research environment.
The position has a strong investigative focus, leading and supporting compliance investigations and drawing on litigation-honed skills in interviewing, evidence analysis, issue spotting, and risk assessment. The Legal Officer partners closely with senior compliance leadership to help shape the strategic direction of the Ethics & Conflict of Interest program, provides legal research and practical guidance on complex and emerging compliance issues, supports institutional committees and training initiatives, assists with corrective actions and regulatory disclosures, and monitors new laws and regulations affecting healthcare, research, and academic institutions.
Requirements
• Juris Doctor
• Licensed attorney in the state of Texas
• Four years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, health care organization, academic medical center or related entity.
• Four to eight years of legal experience in the areas of litigation or in a healthcare regulatory role at a law firm or healthcare organization
